Is your planter ready to go?
In this episode of Real Agriculture Corn School, Kearney Planters Service Tech Lead Shaun Dilliott gives you a short course in how to prep your planter for the coming season.
Dilliott’s clinic starts with inspecting the row unit and the need to a take close look at the parallel linkages, one of the things that often get overlooked. From there he travels around the planter checking for everything from blade and bearing wear to inspecting hoses, wiring, fertilizer boxes, chains, transmissions, drives and, of course, those all important metres.
Our exclusive planter prep clinic video wraps up with one simple tip: “It’s much easier to do it in the shop in the wintertime than in the spring on a nice warm day when you want to get going,” advises Dilliott.
