This episode of the Corn School finishes our three part series on what possible issues producers can expect this spring due to the mild winter conditions.
It’s not a topic we’ve had to address too much in the past and for that reason alone it warrants some attention. Above average or below average conditions in any season can bring unexpected repercussions.
This time around we talk about those repercussions with agronomist Jesse Grogan of LG Seeds. We started our conversation with a look at what potential issues producers could have with pests and diseases; what pests may have over-wintered particularly well and what crop diseases may present elevated threats in the field this year. We also spoke about the potential for increased weed pressure and some of the benefits of early planting.
