John Deere’s new ExactEmerge retrofit kit will allow farmers who own the company’s late-model planters to step up their speed and accuracy.
John Deere launched its ExactEmerge seed delivery system in 2014, promising farmers precise seed placement and spacing while boasting the ability to travel at much faster planting speeds, up to 10 mph.
The retrofit kit, unveiled at the 2015 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, will be available for model year 2011 and newer 177ONT CCS and 1790 planters as well as model year 2012 and newer DB Series planters.
RealAgriculture’s Bernard Tobin caught up with John Deere Seeding Product Manager Jacob Swanson at Farm Progress and asked him to walk farmers though the conversion process and how to use the retrofit kit for their planters.
More from the ’15 Farm Progress Show
ExactEmerge kit components include: meter and hopper assemblies, cartridge assemblies, 56v electric drives and row unit controller assemblies, scrapers, cartridge guards, and mounting hardware. Other pieces include the planter controller with SeedStar 3 HP, backbone harness and tractor power generation harnessing, vacuum automation, and curve compensation capability.
Kits require the use of tractor power generation and GreenStar 3 2630 Display for full operation. Depending on the model of the planter and tractor, additional components may be required to complete the retrofit.
