Soybean School: How Soon Can I Spray Soybeans After a Frost?

by

There are few Ontario farmers not grappling with the fallout of the May 23rd frost — corn and soybeans both have started to grow through the damage, though persistent dry conditions up until the last few days had stopped some re-growth short.

Farmers also likely saw the coming weed spectrum while out scouting frost damage — the question now is, can I spray as per usual?

In this Soybean School, PRIDE Seeds’ market agronomist, Ken Currah walks farmers through how frost injury may impact herbicide application decisions, why plants need green leaves and fresh re-growth in order to metabolize the herbicide (yes, even Roundup Ready crops), and how current conditions may compound the problem of weed removal timing.
