The truth is that their is a wide range of limiting factors that vary from field to field. Instead of becoming overwhelmed with intricate details regarding all of the variables involved, your best approach is to simplify.

David Holshouser is a soybean expert with Virginia Tech. Holshouser says you can box those limiting factors into five basic areas of plant needs: light, water, nutrients, carbon dioxide and oxygen.
